DVR: Digital Video Recorder is often called hard disk video recorder because it records video on a hard disk, unlike traditional analog video recorders. It is also called DVR. It is an image storage processing system that can record, record, remotely monitor and control images/audio for a long time. DVR is mainly used for recording and control devices of analog cameras.

NVR: NVR (Network Video Recorder) is the abbreviation for network hard disk video recorder. The main function of NVR is to receive digital video streams sent from network cameras (IPCs) via the network, perform storage and management, and take advantage of the advantages of distributed architecture. Simply put, NVR allows you to simultaneously display, browse, play, manage and store multiple network cameras. It eliminates the need to rely on computer hardware and the hassle of installing software. When all cameras are networked, a centralized management core will inevitably emerge. NVR is mainly used for recording and control devices of network cameras.

Difference between NVR and DVR: DVR and NVR have only one letter difference, but that determines the essential difference. DVR digitally encodes and compresses analog video and stores it on the hard disk. The letter "D" is mainly related to encoding and storage technology, and has nothing to do with network transmission. Therefore, DVRs are usually installed near analog cameras. On the other hand, NVRs get encoded and compressed video streams from the network and do storage and transmission. The letter "N" is related to network transmission. Therefore, NVR devices usually do not see a direct connection of the video signal, the input and output are encoded into IP data and network protocols are added.
